What does a blur image tool do?
A blur image tool softens the fine detail in a photo without changing its dimensions. It can create a gentler look, reduce visual distractions, protect small details or make a busy background less prominent. Upload an image, choose a blur amount and download a separate softened copy when the preview looks right.
How to blur an image
- Choose an image from your device or drag it into the upload area.
- Move the blur strength slider to preview the effect.
- Apply the blur when you are happy with the setting.
- Download the edited image and keep the original file unchanged.
The strength setting is measured in pixels. A low value lightly softens sharp edges, while higher values spread nearby pixels farther across the image for a noticeably hazier result. Try a small value first, especially on portraits and screenshots, because a strong blur can make text or facial features difficult to recognize.
Why blur a photo?
Blurring is useful when an image needs a little less detail rather than a full redesign. It can make a background less distracting behind a subject, add a dreamier treatment to a photograph or help obscure information that is already small in the image. For deliberate privacy protection, make sure the final preview truly hides the information before sharing it; a light blur may still leave content readable.
Private browser editing
This tool uses your browser's Canvas API to create the blurred copy on your device. The image is not sent to a server, and the original upload is never overwritten. You can adjust the setting and create another version whenever needed, without uploading the photo again. Results are ready immediately, even for everyday photo edits and quick design experiments.
