What does removing line breaks do?

Removing line breaks turns text spread across several lines into a smoother block of text. It is useful after copying content from a PDF, email, narrow column or formatted document where lines wrap in inconvenient places. Choose whether each break should become a space, disappear entirely or remain only between paragraphs, then review the cleaned result before using it elsewhere.

How to remove line breaks

  • Paste or type the text you want to clean.
  • Choose how each line break should be handled.
  • Decide whether to collapse extra spaces and trim the edges.
  • Select Remove line breaks.
  • Copy or download the cleaned text.

Replacing breaks with spaces is the safest option for normal prose because it prevents the last word on one line and the first word on the next from being joined together. Removing breaks with no separator is better for content that was deliberately split across lines, such as a wrapped code, reference or identifier. Keep paragraph breaks when you want to make each paragraph readable while still removing the short wraps inside it.

Clean up copied text carefully

Text copied from a PDF can contain a new line after nearly every visible line. In that situation, replacing each break with a space usually produces a readable sentence. However, words may already have a trailing hyphen or unusual spacing from the original document. Review names, numbers, URLs and hyphenated words after cleanup. This tool removes the breaks you select; it does not try to guess whether every line end was a natural word break.

Collapsing extra spaces changes runs of spaces and tabs into one space. It can make pasted text more consistent, but leave it turned off if repeated spacing has meaning in your content. Trimming removes whitespace at the beginning and end of the result. Neither option changes the original text box, so you can adjust your choices and generate a new result whenever needed.

Private browser processing

All cleanup runs in your browser. Your text is not uploaded, stored or shared by this tool. It works without an account and lets you copy or download the result immediately. Keep the original version if it matters, and inspect the output before inserting it into a document, form or published page.
